What the course is about

The course will provide you with a focussed introduction to painting in a friendly and supportive setting. The tutor will introduce topics with helpful demonstrations and examples. The aim is to guide you through the fundamental skills, technique and knowledge with a variety of fun practical exercises and projects.

Topics covered may include:

•    Materials and equipment
•    Mixing and blending colour
•    The Colour Wheel
•    Different applications e.g. washes, impasto
•    Painting a subject e.g. landscape, still life.

This is a structured course including demonstrations, group and individual coaching. At times you may be given step-by-step instructions. A range of techniques and artists will be sampled in order to support learners’ individual style. Starting points may include both real life subjects and photographs, with a variety of subjects.

Learning takes place in a friendly classroom setting, which is a great place for social interaction and helping you meet new people.

This workshop is subsidised by Government funding so you should aim to attend the whole course.
