What the course is about

Welcome to English!  This course will help support you in achieving an accreditation, either on this course or on another of our popular English courses once space becomes available.

  3. Allowing for flexible accreditation (exam) opportunities to be provided (including E1 – L2 FS qualifications or NCFE qualifications)
  4. Begining to build your confidence and self-esteem, both in the subject and in your general learning skills
  5. Allowing you the opportunity for transfer to other courses(depending on available places)

During your class you will:

  • Work on your reading skills, including reading for meaning, proof-reading and comprehension
  • Work on your writing skills, including planning your writing, writing for different purposes, spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Work on your communication skills including speaking and listening activities and assessments
  • Complete work in the classroom and as homework to prepare you for the Functional Skills assessment.

You will learn through a variety of activities including tutor demonstration, presentation and guidance, individual and group work, discussion, internet research, films and recordings, reading of various types of text in a variety of media and written pieces and assignments.

You will be supported to develop good study skills and where relevant, your learning will enable you to develop skills and knowledge required for work.

This is a fun course that will help you challenge yourself and significant home study will be essential to successfully complete this course.
