What the course is about

This course follows on from our ICT for Beginners A  or ICT for Beginners A Plus course. The course has 7 weekly session of 3 hours each. 

The course covers 3 units which develop your ICT skills and then apply them in the context of making job applications.

Unit 305 Introduction ICT

The learner will: 

1. Interact with and use an ICT system.

  • Use correct procedures for start and shutdown of an ICT system
  • Open and close applications
  • Use input devices
  • Use output devices
  • Use software applications
  • Recognise and use interface features.

2. Follow recommended safe operating practices

  • List safety points to be remembered when using a computer
  • Follow safe practices

3. Use ICT to search for, select and use information

  • Use appropriate search techniques
  • Select information
  • Use information for an agreed purpose.

4. Enter, develop and present information for an agreed purpose using an ICT system.

  • Enter information

  • Present the information for an agreed purpose

Unit 306 Applying for a Job

The learner will:


1 Know different methods of applying for jobs.

  • identify the different types of job applications
  • identify the different methods for job applications.

2 Be able to apply for a job

  • identify information needed to apply for a job
  • present the information for a job application in different formats
  • draft a CV
  • describe how to apply for a job online.
     

Unit 308 Searching for a Job

The learner will:


1 Be able to find out about opportunities for work.

  • identify different sources of information to find out about jobs
  • use sources of information to find key facts about different jobs
  • identify different types of employment and training opportunity


2. Be able to search for job vacancies.

  • describe the key features of a job advert
  • identify own requirements and skills
  • identify job vacancies that meet own requirement and skills
  • identify how to signup to different organsiations' job alert system
